THE VELOIRE
Our accommodations are located in the heart of the village of Saint-Jean-Saint-Maurice-sur-Loire, a stone's throw from the cycle route: La Véloire. The Véloire route invites you to discover the upstream part of the last wild river in Europe by bike. Today, this route is developed from Montrond-les-Bains to Paray-le-Monial, while awaiting future developments going back up towards the source. La Véloire offers another face of the Loire, a real green and intimate escape where villages and castles follow one another over 140 km (shared paths and greenway). From the spa resort of Montrond-les-Bains, you follow the course of the river on small roads through the Loire countryside. The journey continues in a rural setting on the greenway of the quiet Roanne to Digoin canal. Paray-le-Monial and its famous basilica mark the end of the Véloire before considering, why not, a continuation along the Loire on the EuroVelo 6.
Leaning against the main axis that constitutes the Véloire, the territories have identified a network of local loops that crisscross small, little-used roads, rich from a tourist point of view and whose distances and levels allow everyone to find their favorite route. We invite you to discover the 13 cycle loops marked out in Roannais and Forez. To date, there are 360 km of cycle loops that we invite you to explore. Other routes are currently being marked out, they will eventually make it possible to offer a great cycle tourism offer throughout the department!
